Oh my gosh.Ā Growing pains are really hard.
I am personally experiencing so much of what Iāve written about in the past.Ā This is a time of discernment ā whatās IN and whatās no longer serving me; that is, whatās OUT.
Now Iām in the thick of looking at my values.Ā While my core values remain true, my peripheral values, something I talk about in my best selling Dynamic Transitions book, have changed significantly.Ā Iām now in the throes of letting go of who I was and looking forward to who Iām becoming.Ā No, itās not a wholesale change out. As I said, my core values remain. Who youāve come to know will continue to be.Ā Ā
Whatās changing is this:Ā Iām about to climb mountains that Iāve never climbed before.Ā Therefore, I need new maps, new guides, new tools, and renewed endurance.Ā For me, these āmountainsā are international stages, new books at a higher level, and making a global impact with my message.
Iāve gone through iterations of myself before.Ā We all have. You arenāt the same ...
I share the stuff that my DynamicLeaderĀ® breakthrough clients are working on so you can see how āthose peopleā who have so much going for them have this core thing we all have going⦠weāre all human.Ā That means that there are times that self-doubt enters. It means that thereās a process to learning how to talk to yourself.Ā Ā
At one point in our conversation my DynamicLeaderĀ® breakthrough client said, āIām not really good at complimenting myself.āĀ A couple of things sprang to mind. My first thought was that I really liked this guy. How could he say that he doesnāt compliment himself?Ā My next thought was about what he does tell himself. Is it negative or are compliments just absent? And my third thought was about how we need to practice grace with ourselves.Ā Ā
What do you like about you?
What would you think Iād see as likable about you?
And beyond the judgement of likability, what would you think that Iād say youāre good at?
This isnāt an ego-trip as much as itās a perspective s...
The brideās father gave a toast the theme of which was Love and Hope.Ā Heās a seasoned speaker, someone I admire very much, and itās a delight that his treasured daughter married my son just a few days ago.
His message is one that we could all use more of:
Ā
Love
And
Hope
Ā
David is a man who lives the #StartsWithOne movement.Ā He connects with people to lift them, deliberately, actively, positively.Ā And he lives the message of Love and Hope, spreading both wherever he can. He understands that greatness isnāt about calling attention to yourself, but rather, in lifting those around you.Ā Ā
Weāve all seen people who struggle to be noticed.Ā āI did a good thing.ā And āMy contribution was important.āĀ Unfortunately, the people who live that way only push others away, not understanding that being great comes in the form of true service to others.
And again, my new buddy-in-law exudes the Spirit of service and brings Love and Hope wherever he goes.Ā Ā
As a model of those ideals, he ...
You were taught all kinds of things to make it easier to āget alongā in this world.Ā By the time you hit adolescence, you had adopted certain moral codes. Early on, we each attempt positive interactions and find that there are certain social structures in place to maintain a sense of order.Ā As we get older, we have opportunities to branch out. At some point, you might have decided to explore. Chances are, however, that unless you dropped into a new culture, there would not be any dramatic change and you pretty much stuck to what you were taught early on.Ā Ā
Early theories about the way we make ethical decisions boil down to two decision-tree paths: ācareā or ājustice.ā
It turns out that choosing ārightā isnāt always simple.Ā Whatās right to you might not be so right to someone else.Ā For example, I think we could all agree that stealing is wrong.Ā Would it be okay to steal a medicine or hijack a car if you knew that in doing so, you could save a loved oneās life?Ā Itās still stealing...
Transitions āĀ
Letting go of an old identity isnāt exactly that!Ā Ā
You are not letting go of it all.Ā
You are actually accommodating and assimilating something new.Ā Ā
Ā
Points to remember:Ā Ā
Youāre not letting go of the old identity.Ā Ā
Youāre letting go of the box that held the old identity. Ā
That way more can fit within you.
Ā
Got it?Ā Now get ready to shift and hold more!
Letās DO this.Ā 2020 is waiting for you to show up!!!
Keep Making Your Magic!

P.S. HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT!Ā Ā
Iām pretty excited about this.Ā For the past couple of years, people have pushed me to do a podcast and I reluctantly agreed, pushing them off.Ā Ā
FINALLY,Ā Iām so excited to announce that One Sharp Sword ā cutting through to what matters most will be coming out in early February.Ā Ā
And I need a favor!Ā Stay tuned for a special email announcement.Ā When it comes out, you could win something pretty great if you Rate and Review my new podcast.Ā We want to push its visibility to the top!Ā ...
An artist is someone who practices and produces art.
A dentist is someone who practices and produces great health around dentition.Ā Ā
A strategist is someone who explores, practices, and produces strategy.
Ā
And to become an Excellencist means that you are practicing and becoming an expert in the art of excellence āĀ
Ā
The Art of Excellence
Ā
I came up with the term (and the website name) of Excellencist!
How cool is that?Ā Ā
Ā
You choose to declare and call yourself an Excellencist!
Ā
Thereās a difference between being perfect and excellent.Ā Ā
On a recent call with one of my exclusive High Performance clients, he spoke with me about how upset he was that heās been working so hard on getting things right and it doesnāt seem to be panning out the exact way he wanted.Ā He lamented that he didnāt feel excellent.
My coaching questions for him focused on two key areas:
In surrounding myself with exceptionally high performers, Iām continually surprised by those reporting feeling stuck.Ā Well, Iām not surprised that people feel stuck. We ALL feel stuck sometimes. What surprises me is the language that some people use when they claim to be on target for a breakthrough.
In the last few days, Iāve heard people talking about āremoving roadblocks.ā
They proudly exclaim that there are no more blocks to their success.Ā Ā
Iād like to celebrate with them except that your actions take you to where your thoughts lead.Ā So, if I told you to think about anything unique but do not think of a unicorn⦠Well, youād have to get an image of a unicorn before you thought about something not that.Ā Ā
āIāve got no roadblocks!ā
That is, unfortunately, not a celebration-worthy statement.
āIāve created a clear path!āĀ Thatās different. Roadblocks and unicorns arenāt mentioned.Ā Ā
Itās really a big pet peeve of mine to hear otherwise positive people talking in terms of the ā...
I would be among the first to cheer you on!Ā And this weekās Wednesdays With Wayne might surprise you.Ā I still want to cheer you on.Ā Of course I do. Youāve got a lot to do this year and 2020 promises to be big and bright.
ANDā¦
Iām going to say something that is counter to my mentors.
Itās the opposite of so much thatās out there.
Iām going to advise you to SLOW IT DOWN.Ā Ā
Weird, huh?Ā How can you even consider slowing down when thereās so much to do?Ā Ā
Thereās so much you want to do.Ā Ā
Thereās so much happening that you almost feel behind already.
Youāre only in the second week of the New Year.Ā How can you be feeling like youāre falling behind already?Ā Ā
High performers tend to see all that they could do and then they want to get it all done all at once.Ā When it doesnāt all come together, thereās a sense of feeling inadequate.Ā Ā
So slow your roll there, hotshot.Ā Youāve got this.Ā Ā
YOU HAVE GOT THIS!
Ā
Look, Iām excited about my trajectory.Ā As a result of some things ...
Is it just me or does anyone else feel slightly sad that people look at the past year and bid it good riddance!Ā I canāt tell you how many times Iāve heard people say that theyāre happy to have that year done and behind them.
As you read this, Iāll poke you a little bit here.Ā I mean, again, my aim is to comfort the afflicted and to afflict the comfortable.
Are you one of those who is so glad to see the door close on this last year so that you can start this one anew?Ā Ā
Iāll admit that the turning of this calendar page is a little different for me personally this time.Ā Thereās a lot Iām looking forward to in this coming year and decade because thereās a lot Iām looking forward to creating and producing for myself and others.
Iām not happy that the year has come to a close.Ā Iām not sad about it either.Ā Ā
Itās a thing.Ā I got out of the year what I put into it.Ā And I know that over the past year, Iāve laid the groundwork for the years ahead.Ā Ā
You have too.Ā So if youāre so glad...
Itās dark.Ā Your mind whirrs.Ā Your stomach growls.Ā You wander to the kitchen and find your way to the refrigerator.
You open the door and suddenlyā¦
This is where this tale gets coolā¦Ā YOU ARE LIKE YOUR REFRIGERATOR. Want to know how?
Of course you do.
You find your way to the refrigerator, you pull open the door, and all of the darkness in the room rushes inside the āfridge.Ā Ā
No, no⦠thatās not what happens at all.
You open your refrigerator and one light, one tiny bulb, illuminates the whole kitchen.Ā The light rushes out and everything seems almost too bright.
This weekās Wednesdays With Wayne falls during Hanukkah and on Christmas.Ā Use this as a reminder as you gather with family and friends from now into the New Year:Ā YOU carry the light. One tiny light. You shine it brightly and it floods over everything around it.Ā You do not let the darkness rush in. Your light-filled energy bathes others.
Remember that.
Youāre going to feel holiday pressure.
Youāre going to feel ...
