Interview with Alan Kaye

Episode #83

Influenced by his entrepreneurial Marine father and his wife, and loving mother, Alan Kaye learned that relationships - helping others get what they want - was the key to success.

He ended up in insurance, which for most of us doesn’t sound so great. His story, his connections, and his life lessons along the way are phenomenal.

Alan Kaye was an animator, he did marketing for the NY Yankees, his world went into a tailspin with his daughter’s illness (and that led to massive charity work on his part), and then he landed in a space of protecting people. He and his partner Brian built eight offices with a large team where the company culture is like family.

The basics:

  • Don’t lie, cheat, or steal
  • Come with solutions, not excuses
  • Build Trust (and do everything to keep it)

The bigger lessons:

  • Be authentic
  • Don’t burn a bridge; you never know
  • Be solution-focused
  • Empower others
  • Learn from failure, that’s part of life
