Interview with Jocelyn Bellows
Author, podcaster, tv host, and life coach - Jocelyn talks about the journey of what it takes to Break Down To Wake Up (also the name of her book).
She had a “normal” life and was doing well.
She and her husband decided to make a big life upheaval and move across the county. She got the blessing from her job and off they went, as a family of three.
Something still nagged at her and she began a journey of true self-discovery.
She notes: THE DETOURS IN OUR LIFE LEAD US TO EXACTLY WHERE WE NEED TO BE.
Jocelyn found herself through outside coaching and took the path to become a coach, herself.
In this episode, we talk about her recognizing that she felt trapped in her old life and that she couldn’t breathe.
Here, I note that:
the sense of not being able to breathe isn’t about getting enough air, it’s about being able to exhale enough to express yourself fully.
And Jocelyn adds that we have seemingly grown up with the rules “If I can act in a certain way, I’ll receive love from this other person.”
Spring boarding on this thought, I note that this then, makes the relationship transactional and essentially not safe.
Jocelyn tells us to
- Get curious with ourselves
- Love ourselves
- Engage in Radical Responsibility (self-accountability)
- Take a big LEAP (the name of her program)
- Choose yourself first and use your voice - it’s why you have one!
