Interview with Marisa Zalabak
SUCH GREAT GEMS on this show!
Marisa, from actress (and waitress) to educational psychologist and organizational change agent, she brings us concepts so useful in our everyday lives.
What a delight to find someone so aligned in our thinking yet so different in our world paths!
Marisa approaches the world and her clients, not from a place of “what’s wrong?” but from a place of exploration of what might be missing and therefore, what might be possible.
Some gems in no particular order of importance (they’re all good):
- Culture exists within a climate and that we can change both. Look at the overall climate first.
- Being joyful is a practice AND and outcome
- We need to bring our humanity into the workplace
-
- It’s a mistake to want to separate it. Attending to humanity is NOT anti-efficiency and does not lower productivity. Quite the opposite!
- We need to attend to psychological safety
-
- Start with strengths
- The role of human beings is to be better at being human
- We need to be Adaptive, Agile, and Aware of what we affect
- It’s important to discover what our role is in any conflict
-
- This is essential for leaders who just want the other (person or department) fixed
- “How can I help you understand where you are in this constellation?”
- Triple Bottom Line - People/Planet/Profit
