The Secret To REAL Peace

wednesdays with wayne Nov 17, 2021

As we approach the end of the year (can you believe it) we can reflect back and plan forward. There are a lot of things we have to be grateful for.

Especially as life as we knew it really has changed.

So what is the secret to real peace?  This one is simple - the secret to real peace is to create it for yourself.

What?

Yep! The secret to real peace is not to find it, but to create it. Even when things are going wrong, you have a choice about your mindset.

What opportunity is this situation offering you?

A chance to get closer? A chance to understand the situation differently? A chance to reflect inwardly about your personal triggers and where they came from?

We only get triggered when our identity is threatened.

Think about that. When was the last time you got really upset about something? It was when someone said or did something that threatened your identity or integrity (read as identity).

Sports fans get super upset about certain referee calls because they identify with the sports team. I’m not a huge sports fan, so I just watch the drama from a place that’s a little removed. A good play is a good play. And what’s unfair is unfair. I don’t get bent out of shape about the calls. The same with politics. I have my views. I stand for something. And I’m not going to enter a debate with someone on politics because no one comes to a debate with the idea that their mind could be changed.

So the secret to real peace is to find it in yourself. Create it in yourself.

You can do that through a practice of gratitude to start.

Then monitor where you get sucked in or triggered.

And, as our friend from Frozen says, “let it go…”

The secret to real peace really is to create it for yourself and spread that vibe to those around you!

Happy holidays to you!
