Your charisma is integrally tied to your internal alignment of intention and action. The formula to charisma is this simple: 

Be intentional. Keep integrity around your intention.

Poof! Now you have alignment. 

That’s actually harder to do than it sounds. For example, there are people who are perpetually late. They “intend” on being on time. They feel bad when they’re late. And though they may be “time blind” for any number of reasons, they’re not living in integrity.

Whenever you know you need to do something, or that you’ve told yourself you will do something, and then you defer, you’re out of alignment. 

I write regular blog posts, so let’s use today as an example. I sat down to write and was also called to do something with my wife. My path to alignment was to share with her that I’d love to join her and that I was working on this one thing. I told her that I’d like to give her the undistracted attention she deserves, so I’d like to complete what I’d begun. 

Note that there’s a benefit statement in there. We both win when I’m in alignment.

What would have happened if I had said, “Okayyyy, I’ll be right there!” And then I wasn’t “right there?” I would’ve broken my word. Or, if I put down what I was working on in order to appease her in that moment? I would’ve broken my word to myself. 

In this instance, I share what my intentions were: to give her the presence she deserves and, that in order to do so, I’d need to complete this one assignment I’d given myself.

Again, that’s how you build a win-win. That’s how you prove integrity to yourself. That’s how you build alignment. That’s where personal confidence is built. And the by-product of all of that is charisma! 

Intentionality + Integrity = Alignment

Be very clear about what you want. Demand of yourself that you live into your intentions.

When you don’t break your word, especially to yourself, you land at a new level of confidence. You begin to trust yourself more.

Most people don’t think that way. When you trust yourself because you’ve followed through, you gain a new level of confidence. And here’s where that takes you:

Charisma comes from Confidence.

Alignment is the secret of people trusting you and liking you. And it’s not that you need to be liked or gain anyone else’s acceptance. It’s that you become someone that other people are attracted to because of who you are and how you show up. That’s charisma. 

Yes, sure, there are charismatic con men. If you look at who they are and how they are, it’s clear that they are in alignment with their values. They are confident in themselves, and they get others to buy into their confidence. (Hence the term “con man” from confidence.)

You’re not them. You’re in a deeper integrity with yourself and Universal energy. You radiate and amplify the good. To splash a little charisma zest on yourself, be your word. 

It’s pretty great that it’s that simple. At the same time, it takes awareness and determination to live into your intention about 100% of the things in your life!

Take inventory today – right now. What have you been putting off that you told yourself you’d get to? 

Yeah, those things that just sprung to mind – those are the ones. Be aware of whether you might be trying to justify why you haven’t done them yet. These are the things that you’re not being your word about. 

That’s what’s been holding you back from the big breakthrough to your Next Big Next that you can feel is SO close. It is right there. It’s right in front of you. You just need to show up like you mean it. You’re different from who you were, so showing up today is going to take a new level of intention and commitment. 

Be your word to yourself.
Be your word that you give to others.
You’ll build your confidence to a level you didn’t know you could reach. And that radiates outward to others. There’s where natural charisma shows up.
