As we draw to the close of the year, give yourself a moment to reflect back on the amazing triumphs you’ve had, the challenges you’ve overcome, and the dreams you actually did fulfill.  

A lot of people – and I used to be one of them – look back at the year and lament the things they didn’t do, the people they lost, and the goals left unmet. Yes, those exist. So, too, do the successes you’ve had—both big and small.

There’s a key lesson to keep in mind as you close out this year and lean into the new one: What you focused on is what brought you here. To this place. Right now.

As you plan for the upcoming month, quarter, and year ahead, think about what your next level will be. What is your Next Big Next? And as you think about creating something special for yourself, decide on what you’ll focus on. What’s IN and what’s OUT of your thinking. Protect your focus. 

Your Next Big Next will demand more from you. It’s not like you’ve been bled dry and now the mosquitos or vampires are back for the last drop. It’s that, you’ve trained your whole life to be at the level you are now. You also know that there’s so much more for you and so much more in you.

The journey itself changed you. And as you level up, you’ll have to acknowledge that playing at the level of champions requires more of you than it took to get to the level of semi-finalist. You need to hone the skills you have, maybe add a new skill or two, and sharpen your mindstate so that you only focus on what matters most. 

What you have is good. Really good. Most people, if they looked at your life, would be envious. You also know there’s more. 

Now’s the time to focus in – no matter where you are on life’s journey – focus in and level up. It’s time to be GREAT at the next level. Others around you need that from you. 

Level up for yourself; level up for those that want and need you.
