You stare at your to-do list for the day, hoping to reconcile everything on it against the minimal time left open on your calendar. And you stare some more, uncertain how you’ll ever get ahead of it all.

Some days, months, or even years feel like that. 

The funny thing is that you know what to do. 

Back up a bit with me and let’s get a different perspective on this. Let’s say that you’re learning a new skill—maybe a new language or a new musical instrument. You know that practicing helps you get better. 

The reality is that any practice in earnest does help you get better. Want to get stronger? Lift a weight, a water bottle, or a book. Want to learn a language? Learn how to pronounce a new word or sentence. 

The key is that while you might have heard how to do something, even personal growth, it’s not until you practice and reflect and practice some more that you get better. 

It’s the action that sparks the growth. Action, feedback, next best action. That’s true in business and in your personal life. 

So, for something you’re after, anything on your to-do list or the big thing you left off for someday, what is your Best Next Step? What will you DO today that might be that bit different from what you did yesterday? If you have skills or strengths, how might you hone them?

Get on that. Help someone else take their Best Next Step, too. The world needs leaders. You get there through action.
