Interview with Stacey Marmolejo

Talking about owning a franchise isn’t sexy.

In fact, it made me, as the podcast host, wonder why I should have someone who does franchise stuff on the program. And then, I thought about what I teach - and I got curious. I went to a place of judgment, so I knew I must be missing something.

What was it about franchises that I was missing?

Stacey Marmolejo grew up being guided to stick to things that were safe and more secure. The military was a secure career route, but she didn’t want that. Corporate was secure, and it’s a path she took. Until she didn’t. She pivoted into franchising after watching her son come alive with energy in a music camp. Stacey found a music school where she could help her son and other kids find a way to be themselves and become more expressive, while belonging to a group.

Who knew that franchises could offer comfort like that?

There are over 4,000 franchise brands from which to select and they’re not all mainstream.

How do you now which one is for you, if any?

Stacey will walk you through a competency assessment, a motivation assessment, and review your finances. She advises, buy a franchise you can afford.

Later in the program she notes that you only need about 30% of the buy in costs because the Small Business Administration will help. Get your loan through an SBA Preferred Bank and you’ll be on a great path.

If this is your first business, it’s like a paid internship to learn how to run a business. You get the playbook. Yep, if you want to own your own business, consider a franchise.

There’s so much more! Listen in for great tidbits.
